     you will probably think the following request an absurd one but nevertheless I will make it   Some three months since three of us bought the Democratic News paper office and Started a decent paper the Cairo News and have been fighting hard to sustain it but the peace Democrats - have started an oposition office and we are out about five thousand dollars  now we will have to discontinue our Paper unless we Can get some assistance from (abroad?)  we issue tomorrow an weekly. -  That we intend to (illegible) all over Athens Illinois and the object in all this is to See if you in the U.L. can help us any - And so if you can for-see our having a hard time of it      Respectfully

Some time ago a company of three of (illegible) bought the Democratic Office & started a decent paper and are out about five thousand dollars. Wishes the Governor and the U L to assist them as they are having a hard time of it.
