Chicago, Nov 11 1863.
Dear Governor,
Enclosed I send you a Petition for the appointment of Samuel Gehr as Notary Public and $ for the fee of the Secy of State. I had hoped to have seen you in Chicago during the fair, but as I did not have the opportunity I shall endeavor to call upon you at Springfield unless there is a prospect of your visiting Chicago at an early day. If you do not come I shall be glad to visit Springfield upon some kind of business which may entitle me to a full pass upon the R.R. I want to see you in regard to some things touching the future political plans of the state and nation and especially, that which is of interest to yourself personally.
Very truly yours,
Sal. M. Willson
