On Tuesday last I mailed you a request for an order to appear before the Medical Examining Board for examination.

I did not in my haste to exchange trains, refer you as I should have done to Dr P. H. Bailhache, Ass't Surgeon of the 19th Regt. with whom I have had the honor to be associated as Hospital Steward in said Regiment. I now hold his letter of recommendation, and am anxious to meet the Board early next week, that if necessary I may join my Regiment,

now in Kentucky by the expiration of my furlough

I trust that I may meet the aforementioned order in Chicago on Monday next, in hands of Prof H. A. Johnson, to whose care I wish it addressed
