General Head Quarters, State of Illinois Adjutant General's Office Springfield, Feby 5 1864.
Dear Governor
I send a revised list as requested. You first asked the "number of men which they left the state - the number of men with which they return as far as possible." My first list gave the Strength at [arms?] since organization. I could not give the number with which they returned. bcause they have not yet reported the number. But from letters & some [volls?]return I gave all I have. I now add to the list what you call for this [morning?] as far as possible which is the strength of the regiment according to reports read.
In relation to [amt?] of regiments re-enlisted I am really sorry if speaking with Ill & the subject as I state is any thing [wrong?] has been done, or - in furnishing Col Oakes additional information; tc Col Oakes had received dispatches from Washington in relation to barracks & wanted information to know what steps to take on that subject & of course I did not dream of any thing improper in giving it.
Yours Truly A C Fuller
