Gov Yates
Dear Sir,
Several gentlemen in this district have already commenced the organization of companies under your late proclamation. Eight different companies are now organizing in this and adjoining counties – We want the regiment to rendezvous here. It was due to Peoria that it showed Peoria should not be overlooked.
[See?] [wit?] by all means that Peoria be designated as one of the places of rendezvous You will place us under additional obligations to you by doing us this great favor --
Very truly
Your friend
E C Ingersoll
