Dear Sir I this morning drew on you for one Hundred Dollars at five days [Sight?] will you please [stir?] up our friends and have them do something for us The "Democrat" is making evry exertion through its friends and they are standing Square up to it. we will enlarge next week.
See the league and see if they wont do something for us
I recd a letter from Bross. am under many obligations to you

Write him that I have paid the draft for 100.00 (though the Cairo paper is the only Republican paper in Ills which has never said a kind word towards Richd Yates) and that I wish him to send a statement of the needs, wants & importance of the paper which I can refer to Union League
