My Dear Sir it is With the [want?] of Exppeirieance of State Laws that I Appeal to you for Imformatchion of wich I Aske of you and that is are We Intiteld to a Vote for are old Friend and Benafactor Honest Abe Linkon my Farther Voted for him and I Think it my duty to do so to I have my first Voat to put in and it is for olde Abraham Linkon I am
A Soldier of the [2?] Illinois Caverly Volunteers Company H I Whitness the Clabrashion here on the 4th of July and hered some Stumpt Speaches by a Mr Davis of are Army and his senterments Was fairly Cleare to are Boys it is Worth Speaking of for he is What I Call a Right down Sensiable Man in Regards to are Wellfaire and I Can not help but Congratlate him and he has my hartfelt Thanks through his Entiere Wellfaire for the Way he Spoke to us you must Excuse all my Mistakes for I am just Advancing in my manhood days and it is my first Atempt to Coraspond With one how is so high as your self Well I think it my duty to uphold the Strips and Stars for I have
I have fought Under that Emblem for nearly three years and I am going to Sustain it as long as it Waves for its my Duty to do so you have my Proclamation in Regards to Voating in the State of Illinois all We Aske is to let us go to the State and Voate so as to Keep Abe in the Chair and have Peace in one more year and We Can Return home I must give you the motto in Witch I Study dayly it Commencese like This
