Gov. Yates.
A very prominent Lady, and one upon whose energy and enthusiasm we are bound to rely for success in our approaching Sanitary Fair, thus writes me.
"Our citizens are becoming very much interested in " the subject, & all that is required to fan the smoking embers " to a brilliant flame is the appearance of the Public " address to the People. I think a Proclamation or call from " Governor Yates as you suggest, would rouse the whole " people to action." This is from Decatur.
Last week you were furnished with several Copies of our Circular, and now if your Excellency would issue a stirring Appeal to the People upon the subject every body it seems to me would be wakened up to its importance, Please preface it for the Journal at once, We have no time to lose. I have not a moment to spare. Mrs Yates will see her name in the Journal this morning as member of the Ex Court. I trust she will attend the meeting at Decatur tomorrow.
In haste. Very truly

If you have not the time, put Col Loomis at it at once. He assured me that he would do any thing to help us along.
