Sir:
The bearer Mrs. Rochester desires to procure a furlough for her son Nathanial Rochester of Co. D. 85th Regt Ills Vols who is confined in hospital on account of wounds received in one of the late engagements in Tennessee.
I recommend Mrs. R as a very worthy and respectable lady and would request that a furlough be granted to her son for such a period as may be permitted by Existing Orders.

Respectfully returned to Gov Yates with the information that the within named man is now in a condition too critical to allow of removal. An application has been made for a furlough and when fit to leave the hospital he will be allowed to go home
