Gov. Richd Yates, Springfield,
Dr Sir,
Your favor, asking a small list of the most prominent Union men of this Co. has been received. I now hand you names of a few who are true to the Government and Valiant in the cause of Liberty & Union to whom it will do to write. Our friends here are aroused to the importance of the coming Election, and are determined, if possible, to achieve success. The prospect of carrying the County for the Union Candidates is pretty fair, though the vote will be close.
Cant you come down and give our people a talk before the Election? It would do great good. If you can, let me know in time so that a crowd may be gatherd.
Earnestly hopeing and continually praying for success to our cause and for the utter defeat and total overthrow of all traitors
I remain,
Very truly, Your friend
D. H. Brush
