Dear Friend yours of 19th inst came duly to hand you are mistake about the "Cairo News" not having said anything in regards to you and the Senate we have had two leaders in which we strongly advocated your cause and intend to do so more and to show you what interest I felt in the matter, after spending eight thousand dollars in the district---I gave Smith the No 2 democratic candidate in the legislative district---one thousand dollars to use for the purpose of electing [Munn?] a Yates man to the legislature but failed and I am out for this Canvass nine thousand dollars the 'Central Committee' promised to pay some part of it but have heard nothing from them
but that has nothing to do with this subject. All I can do for you I will do with all my might.

Says Govr is mistaken about the "News" not supporting him. they have already had two leaders strongly advocating his cause and intend to do more.
He has spent nine thousand Dollars in the canvass.
