Executive Department.

Springfield Dec. 8th 1864.

Major Gen'l John M. Palmer.

Dear General,

Being very unwell from painful Neuralgia in the face, I could not call on you in town yesterday-I supposed however you would call on me.- About dark I sent Col. Loomis to request you to call. He says you had gone to Mr. Conkling's and he sent you a note there.

I was anxious to see you and converse with you on the subject matters of my letter to you. I think I could have shown you that a large majority of the members elect are for me, and I beleive also that you would see that you had better

grounds for supporting me than Washburn.

I shall still hope to hear from you.

Truly Yours,

(signed) Rich Yates
