Dear Sir, your very frank and Satisfactory letter of the 14th has been received, I thank you for your Photograph enclosed.- I will give it a place in my Album.- In the conclusion of your letter you Say that you know many Patriotic hearts in my County that I would make glad if they knew that I had declared for you - I have conversed with a good many of your friends and there is no man that finds any fault to you except that one thing. and on that I am personally Satisfied.- But Mr. Strain and myself have agreed not to pledge ourselves untill we go down to Springfield which will be the last of next week -- I have the honor to be Respectfully Yours.
