Dear Governor

Allow me to tender my warmest congratulations! It is a brilliant victory in favor of the masses of the people over the wire-working politicians. So far as Washburne is concerned it was a clear case of an attempt at political Larceny.

It seems I was right in relation to my fears about Sansing. I sat up nearly all of one night with Fuller, and am glad to Know now that he saw his way clear, and voted in accordance with the wishes of his people. Governor I hope you may never know all that was said and done to poison the public mind against you lately in this vicinity. Of course I knew that it was a dash to affect the members at the last moment, and it was not without its effect. They had even frightened Mann, but I was fortunate enough to see him after he had got away from home and was on his way to Springfield. I think he left me somewhat "built up" -

Well "alls well that ends well" and

now, dear Governor, God bless you and may you give the lie practically to the cock & bull stories that these men have been so industrious in circulating.

Very Sincerely & truly

Your Friend

J. G. Wilson
