Portrait of Arthur Wines, fiance to Eliza Condell. In 1899, Wines finished his studies at Cornell University and went to work for the U.S. Census in Alaska. Upon his return, Eliza and Arthur planned to marry, but Wines' mental health declined leading to his suicide in December 1899.
