Clothing for those who reenlist
Springfield Nov. 3d 1861
His Excellency Govr Yates
Dear Sir
I have waited since Thursday to see you, but must leave town to night
I desire then very much that you will make an order (as you promised) that such of the privates & noncommmisioned officers of the 1st Regt Cavalry as will reenlist shall immediately receive a suit of clothing similar to that given Captn [Busnaps?] men. And that the captains be authorized to draw them.
And that you will cause
authority to be given to Lieut A.N Holt of Monmouth, Warren Co, to raise a company to take the place of Captn Barkers in my Regiment.
And finaly that you will authorize me to receive other companies into my Regiment, if any other vacancies should occur by the resignation of officers or otherwise By these means I can speedily reconstruct the Regiment.
A written authority, directed to me at Charleston, for these purposes, & sent soon will help me very much & greatly oblige yours
Respectfully T.A. Marshall
Col T.A. Marshall.
