Description

The crowd at the 1908 Democratic Convention gathers at the top of the viewing stands to watch the 300th anniversary celebrations in Quebec City taking place outside and ignoring the convention activities. Uncle Sam serves as ring leader of the five-ring "circus" on the floor of the convention where William Jennings Bryan and William Howard Taft sit at desks in the center of the ring writing acceptance speeches, Theodore Roosevelt stands over two men in uniform fighting next to a sign reading "Naval Row," a baseball batter prepares to swing, and a man sits on a bench trying to understand new election legislation.
