Dear Sir Your Telegram was received & replied to last evening. There are Seventy Five men in Camp belonging to the companies which were represented in Camp Butler. There are some Thirty of those on furloughs who have not yet reported although their furloughs have expired they being unwilling to go into this camp, but willing to to go to C Dory [illegible] Capt Vandenbergh with Eight men escaped from camp on the night of the 10th scaling the fence as they say by the advice of Judge Peters. Some of Captain Everest's men a small Squad the 12 referred to in telegram are unwilling to go with us. With this exception the men


are well suited to go to Camp Douglass. Maj Page arrived here and assumed command [illegible] morning. He has ordered transportation for the men now in Camp & for those at Galena & Wataga We intend going on the 1130 train this AM. Captains Everst & Vandenbergh desire to go into Col Baldwins Regiment in Camp Douglass.
