Adjutant General's Office,
Springfield November 26th 1861.
Col. A. C. Fuller
Adj't Gen'l Illinois
Dear Sir
With your permission I write this reminding you of what I expressed as my desire, at a personal interview, and also (I beg leave to add) the kind offers of assistance tendered me by you on the same occasion.
You are aware that I want a situation either as a clerk in your office, or as drill master at one of the camps.
I would prefer the latter employment (for which I can show I am qualified) as I am anxious to enter into the Volunteer service to attain which end, the position of drill Master offers peculiar advantage.
Any assistance you can render me will be gratefully acknowledged & appreciated by
