Description
William H. Seward and his son, Frederick W. Seward, work in their office. In addition to serving as Governor of the state of New York, 1839-1842, and as a U.S. Senator, William served as the U.S. Secretary of State under Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. William's son, Frederick, served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State during the same terms as his father, as well as two years under President Rutherford B. Hayes, 1877-1879.
