On verso: "Uncle Isom Reed, brother of William Reed. Taken at 17 in his cavalry uniform. Young Isom was a Civil War veteran when barely 19. He married Elizabeth Hull in Douglas - one daughter and two sons - all are deceased. Uncle Isom was a good man and Aunt Elizabeth a wonderful woman. 1951 E. G. Reed."
