Illinois, Our Illinois
Commemorating Her Centennial 1818-1918
Song by Annie C.W. Burton 4 o

Illinois, our Illinois.
Annie C.W. Burton.
1. Illinois! in high endeavor This was e'er the loyal heart; When the nation called for service Thou didst ever bear thy part. Bright thy streams and broad thy prairies, Rich the harvests we enjoy, Freedom's soil is thine, we love thee, Illinois, our Illinois.
2. Illinois! thy name means "Great Men," Great thy helpmates have been, too:
Say we Lincoln, then say Willard Both were liberators true.
Sons and daughters stand together Equal still in rights and joy,
Thus thou art well named, the Great Ones, Illinois, our Illinois.
Copyright MCMXVIII by Annie C.W. Burton. Edwardsville, Ill.
Here are hearts that love thee ever, Hearts of gold with out alloy
Bravest sons and fairest daughters Illinois, our Illinois.
