To

His Excellency, Richard Yates

Governor.

Springfield Ill

Dear Sir:

The sheriff of this county lately died, and the coroner who takes his place being a republican has some enemies, who perhaps have written you to call a new election.

Now governor I write you the facts in the case & the feelings of a majority of the voters of this county. Mr. Ridenhour who succeeds to the office is a good man & every way qualified to fill the office & his politics are not so objectionable to the people of this part

of Egypt as they have been on the contrary I hear many of our best citizens simpathias with the party. and openly swear that the northern democracy have assisted largely to bring on this war, & will in the future cast no vote for the democratic party.

The present shff will give satisfaction, & we do not want the expence of holding a special election to please a few Blood Hounds.

Governor Egypt give a good a/c of her self at Donelson & you will hear from her at next election on the right ticket. The shool master has been abroad.

Very Respy
