I am a corporal in the color guard of the 52d Ill and was appointed as such on account of good conduct and being faithful to every duty I now apply to you for a commission in some of the new regts now getting up in our State I think I am highly competent to take a company and drill them to be sure I have learned all in the past year but I have drilled and Studied as much as my officers
