To his Excellency Gov. Yates
Governor of Illinois
Sir
We are sometime since in receipt of yours, requesting us to produce a banner for the Yates Phalanx and refering us to Miss Tucker for design - she sugested that one side should blend the National & State Army the other should be a portrait of the Governor. She took upon herself to procure us a photograph to work from but it has never been received by us. Will You be Kind enough to sit for one of good size & forward at once. Mr. Healy, the Artist, has offered to donate his services to produce the portrait (in consideration of the circumstances) or rather, does the
work for $30. his usual Charge being from $100 to $200 - If this meets your approbation please forward the likeness at once and any further directions you may see fit together with any motto or Inscription to be placed on flag -
Very Respectfully

P.S. We could furnish 400 or 500 tents such as used by this state last season if authorised by the proper authorities - also the same number of officers or Hospital tents of U.S. regulation, on short notice - prompt pay being essential. Even if cotton is scarce - as cheap as they can be had in the country, at any rate at moderate prices. Your Obedt Servants
