Sir:

Capt. L. F. Booth of Company L, 9th Ill. Cavalry, will visit you to make application for a field officer's commission in one of the new Infantry regiments. He has seen some hard service, and can, I doubt not, show testimonials of his ability & fidelity in the Corps to which he belongs.

I do not know what rules you have adopted in regard to such transfers and promotions, but if consistent with them, I doubt not that Capt. Booth would prove himself worthy of your confidence.
