My Dear Sir,

I find things here in a better condition than I expected. Our friends are hopeful & claim the county. This is a great point, to have confidence. Arrangements are being made to send men to all the precincts to remain among the people till after election. Ingersol is here & will speak to night. He speaks encouragingly of our prospects where he has been. Says McCarty is working actively & efficiently in the Wabash District.

I shall go to Belleville in the morning.

Yours truly

Lyman Trumbull
