Governor

The enclosed I trust to you to get into the hands of some honerable high minded conservative Democrat who will be at the meeting and give the idea due weight

I am for saving our country and let party arrange it self after

If this meeting should take such a noble patriotic stand we should hear no more of interference from Europe. Kings and Emperors would hide their diminutive heads before such dignity of the people

God grant that wisdom and patriotism may rule us all

Very respectfully & truly

Yours Alfred Churchill

Sir

Nominate now fearlessly, Abraham Lincoln for President and Horatio Seymour for Vice President. By so doing you establish a party which will Rule in any event, war or peace, union or disunion, besides you have the means of conquering a permanent peace and making the terms of it Constitutional, honerable and generous.

Without such a course you are whipped, for the volunteers will vote at the next Presidential Election with whom you, on a clean party ticket, stand not

the slightest chance

No odds who I am, enough that you get the idea if you act on it, and save the country and know that I voted for Mr. Lincoln in Dade Co. Mo. where but three such votes were cast at a cost of all $10,000
