Saint Louis, Mo. Sept. 21st, 1863.

Hon. Richd Yates:-- Governor of Ills Hon. Sir:-- At the instance of a few personal friends here, I am induced to ask at your hands, the position of resident Sanitary Agent of Your State for this city. I have been residing in this city between three and four years; and in company with others from the Young Men's Christian Association, frequently attend the hospitals, holding meetings with the soldiers, and relieving their wants as far as possible: Shall be pleased to look after interests of those from the noble State of Illinois.
