His Excellency

Richard Yates

Governor of Illinois

Sir:-

I am directed by his Excellency the Governor of Kansas to inquire of you if a limited number of patients for the insane asylum can be admitted into the Institution of your State from Kansas. this State paying the charges of the same. If so, will you please state what will be the charge for each person. The number will probably not exceed ten or a dozen for the first year

The Governor desires to submit the subject to the Legislature, at its coming session, and will be obliged by an early reply.
