I leave for Washington next week on business of importance. Will you please have the goodness to give me a letter addressed to His Excellency President Lincoln, enlisting his sympathy in favor of the object of my visit. It shall be remembered with the most profound gratitude. I shall with pleasure do a similar kindness if ever needed.
