My Dr Sir
I wish the Locust Tree
at the South Western Corner of
my new Cottage to remain
and not to be cut down, or
grubb'd up, as it is the only
shade for the S.W. Gable for
nearly 3 hours of the day -
If the branches are in way of
Laboureers & Masons, they
may be trimm'd up. Mr
Gifford will probably be along
with you by Thursday, or Monday
at latest - Edwin arrived in
Philadelphia this morning at 4,
and his mentioning that the Cellar
was dug 5 feet, and your opinion
as to the Tree interfering with our
work, has caused me to write this
in order that this Tree may
not not be cut down. All
Money for Bricks which
Mr [name] may want, he can
have by speaking to Mr
Gifford, I wish to pay by
his delivery of 1000 which by
his contract, I think was for
five fifty, hard, $6.50 if
he delivered them, which I
would prefer his doing. All
Stone which can
be quarried previous, or
before removing the Chimneys
I wish to be, if firm, for
my Foundation. If you
need any Supply of Money
for expediting the work
Mrs Booth will furnish
you with. My respects to
Brother & Mother & family.
Yours respectfully
