To the Hon. Richard Yates; Govenor of the State of Illinois.
The undersigned citizens of Mercer County State of Illinois would respectfully represent to your Excellency that this portion of the State has not now and never has held any State office nor has anyone ever held any of the offices which the Governor has the Power to appoint under the laws of this State, and as there are now to be appointed Inspectors for the State Prison for the next four years; we would respectfully Recommend William D. Henderson of this county as a Suitable person for that office.
