My dear Edwina

I went over to Bar Harbor yesterday and Dora told me the sad news of your great loss. What can I say to you Edwina dear! Words cannot express the deep and tender feeling of sympathy I have for you. I think your love of and relationship with your

father were peculiarly sweet and touching, so I can partly realize what your great sorrow must be.

What a consolation to you to have such a husband and such dear children to turn to in this sad crisis of your life! You shall be in my thoughts and in my prayers tomorrow. My father and mother and my husband ask me to add their messages of sympathy. Your loving friend.
