Sir I wish a commission in the Army as Capt in some infantry Reg. as a Reccommendation I searved two years in the war with Mexico & I was commissioned as Lieut in the 22nd Mo Volts. by Willard P Hall acting Governer of the State of Missouri at that time. I done my duty like a good soldier for one year & Resigned on account of sickness from which I am fully recovered & anxious for the field again. I am thowraly Drilled & fully qwellified to fill the Position.

for a full & satisfactory knowledge of my ability as a soldier I would refer you to Lieut Col J. D. Foster of Kirksville, Adair Co. Mo. He being a member of the state Legislative Boddy & a soldier of some years experience.
