As Congress as enacted a conscription law, and Provost Marshalls are to be appointed in each congressional District, by request I most cordially recommend to your excellency George Wilmot Eq of this City a suitable Gentleman for that office from this locality. Mr Wilmot is a gentleman of education, large business experience and I believe perfectly reliable. a true heartened Republican and of course union, and loyal; he now has a son in the service Maj Wilmot now at Hannible Mo, I fully
believe Mr Wilmot to be every way qualified, and in every respect a worthy gentleman.
