Dear sir Companies are organizing preparatory to tendering you their services.
I have advised them that they can go on & elect their officers, & if received, they will probably be commissioned as they elect them.
If you conclude to put [generals?] at the head of the "Illinois Volunteers," I should be glad to join you as your "Inspector General" if you have no better man in view
