Having held the position of Midshipman in the U.S.N. under date of appointment Feby 1841, (Dist of New York.) and resigning in the year 1846, I now tender my services to His Excellency the President of the United States as a volunteer for the Naval Service during the war, in any position His Excellency may think fit to place me.
