Sir,

I hereby offer myself for any secret service you may need in Middle & Southern Ills. in connection with your duties as Govenor to the present condition of our Country. I refer you to John M. Palmer & Chesnutt & Dubois of Carlinvillle with whom I have been acquainted for 20 years. I have been travelling the last 3 years as financial agent for Shurtleff Colley & the Ills Bapt Education Society & am acquainted more or


less in every county in Southern Ills. & would be received as such agent without mistrust from any source & could do good service for our Government if such secret service is needed.

After satisfying yourself of my ability for such service if you need it please inform me & I will report myself at your office in the City of Springfield forthwith
