Dear Sir

We have not received any communication from you concerning appointments since your muster into United State Service.

Being now a United State Regiment, it will be necessary to obtain permission from Gen'l Fremont to attach an artillery company I might aid you in raising it, but cannot give you authority to attach it to your regiment

I should be happy to be of any assistance in my power but I believe this to be beyond my jurisdiction.
