Hon. Richard Yates

Governor

Dear Sir

I write you in behalf of my Son Thomas L. Wilson who was a private in Co. F. 25th Ills. Volunteers and who was wounded and captured in the battle of Chickamauga. He is now with several other prisoners of the 25th at Annapolis Maryland, paroled. He with many others much desire to return home but they cannot do so unless they are recalled by the Governor of the State. Gov. Morton of Indiana has recalled all the Indiana troops captured at the same time and no reason is perceived why your Excellency should not do the same thing. Some of the boys including young Wilson are now in hospital and after undergoing the misery of confinement in Libby prison

it would seem to be their right to be allowed to return home and recruit until such time as they may be paroled when they can rejoin their regiment. Trusting that your Excellency will deem this matter of sufficient importance to give it immediate attention I remain

Yours with Respect

W. M. Wilson
