Peoria Ills. Dear Sir: I enclose herewith your letter to me of 8th April last also the account for rails destroyed and corn used by 14th Ills Cav. together with my letter sending same to the Adjutant General at Washington dated 8th Inst and the answer of the [illegible] be (of 16th Inst) to the same. The Adjt General indicates the only course to be pursued to recover your just dues. I would advise you to write Mr E C. Ingersoll requesting him to ask relief of Congress as indicated by McKeever' letter. I hope you will be fully paid
