Lieut Col James A Oakes

A A P M Genl, U.S.A.

Springfield Ills.

Col. This will present Mr [F?] S Baldwin of Macoupin County, who visits you for the purpose of securing a discharge for his son who enlisted in the 122 Regt Ills a few days ago. Mr Baldwin is a most loyal and worthy citizen, who has six sons in the Army in addition to this one who he states is his only means of support. he being almost blind and in feeble health.

I think this a case worthy of your consideration and if consistent I would request that he be granted a discharge

Very Respectfully
