US. Forces

at Louisville Ky.

Sir: This will present Mr. William Bishop, of this City a most worthy and loyal citizen, who has had three sons in Government service---One of them, Lieut Wm Bishop of "Bridges Battery" Illinois Volunteers, was killed at the battle of Chickamauga, and Mr B desires permission to visit the Army of the Cumberland in consequence.

I will feel personally obliged for favorable action on his application for permission to pass to & within lines of the Army.
