                              Dear Sir
                                         Your favor of Nov 30th is received. also the package containing 15 copies of your Speech delivered at Bryan Hall & the Mo. Democrat of the 29th of Nov. your Speech shall be circulated.  You desire to hear from me I presume you refer to the Senatorship _ In reply allow me to say that you have som strong friends in this county. who will stand by you to the end. my views are not changed. so as present at our congressional convention consulted with some of the leading men of this county in relation to the propriety of affirming the

resolution refered to me the Democrat We was than of the opinion that there was Some opposition in the District which has recently been more fully developed, doubtless you are aware of the course your opponents & the chicago Tribune ((Illegible) its issue of the 29th Nov) are pursuing. They have some men of influence to work in their behalf they are making an impression upon a certain person of community ___ you can rely upon me to aid & assist you in any way that is in my power to accomplish what you desire will look after Randall the numbers of DeKalb in a day or two & report - would like to assertain what Fuller wants. was informed by a friend of his that he told one of your appononts that he was for you, have been of the opinion that he was against you can you give me any information what he is (illegible) at. I think O.C. Johnson & Senator Allen are all right will inform you as to Randall in a few days

has received speeches, copy of Mo. Democrat &c. You have many strong friends in that county who will give you a warm support. They attempted to force a Resolution in Congressional Convention to that effect but find opposition - very little however & he thinks you will only find serious opposition in the course taken Chicago Tribune _ "et id genus"
