Hon. A. Lincoln.

President of the United States.

Learning that it is universally desired by the friends of Isaac L. Morrison Esq. of Jacksonville Ills, that he should receive the appointment of U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, in the event a vacancy occurs in that office for any reason, I take the greatest pleasure in giving expression to my cordial desire that such appointment should be made, Knowing, as I do from many years acquaintance, Mr Morrison's eminent fitness, personally, politically and professionally, for that place.

With the profoundest respect, I am

Your Abiding Servant

G. M. McConnel
