I have been asked by certain Union men in Macoupin County to ascertain whether it will be possible to obtain through you or the commanding officer of this department, arms for the Equipment of a military Company The neighborhood has been suffering from the robbery and theft by guerillas and the wish to put themselfes in a proper shape to resist and drive them out of


the country

Any information you can give upon the subject will much oblige
