  Some one is acting under a mistake about this Commission 

              The Committy  appointed by the Altonians to select a (Com?) of men, to be refered by Gen H Tozan, was in fear during the Generals stay with us, and, A. S. Willis; with others names unknown to myself, were submited to him: upon this suposition that his that I would get this com- in a few days recruited a Number of men; had enlistment papers made out at Major (Hallots?) under his command. Said Major feeling little mad no doubt at his rejection backed out and would sware no men in unless in

companies this is inforcible. Of course I must foot thus provision bill unless forther orders; as a communication from you comes.
