Personally appeared before Me, Sergeant Geo. Gardiner Co "I" 7" Ills Cav-, who, being duly sworn, says, that while on detail as Recruiting Sergeant for the 7' Ills Cav-, in the State of Illinois, in the summer and fall of 1862, he received instructions from Col- (Harrison? Morrison?) - at that time Superindendent of Recruiting service for Illinois, to enlist men to serve for the unexpired term of said Regiment, and he acted in accordence with said instructions.
