Gov Yates

Dear Sir

Your favor of my 28th was duly received and I hasten to answer

There is a proposition made to the 141st Regt to be mustered out when our time expires and to reorganise as a Regiment or as independant companies for the purpose of waring against the Indians on the Frontier.

I think myself to mount the men on horses and properly arm the they can be of great service to the government. I think we can be permitted to so organize and as a general thing we have a fine set of men.

Should we gain such permission I hope you will remember me and I will have proper authority to raise a company as I have some 40 or 50 names already

Yours Truly

E H Bierer

Says that a prosition has been made to reorganize the Regt. to serve on the frontier against Indians. He thinks they can get permission to have the Regt. mounted & armed for that purpose. If such should be the case he wishes to be remembered. &c
